Out on Delivery

Walk 206: Tuesday 7th May

Today: A rose surrounded doorway in Allens’s Lane which smelt heavenly and bee hummed gently: A breeze rustling lawn in Church Avenue and a mottled shadow: Splendid tree shadows: Surreal bubbles in Mount Pleasant: Bunting shadows from Laurel Lodge railings.

A heavy day’s delivering with seventeen special deliveries across the walk and a need to finish on time. Further aggravations with more of Ipswich being closed to traffic and forgotten drinks and snack. All mitigated by the glorious weather, clear strong sunlight with dark shadows. Heady flowery scent greeted me at many calls. We pushed hard and made it in time for the appointment.

An afternoon stroll 9/05

An overcast rain threatening afternoon. Strolling along the river Wensum, with a friend, to hang out under the A146. Noticing patterns, reflections and graffiti textures. Captured sounds of cars passing overhead and the passing of a Cambridge bound train.

A morning walk 29/03

A sunny, still, morning. Blue sky. Birds are singing vigorously and evidence of new green growth in abundance. No bike again – a revision to my constructed story, perhaps a holiday or a change of job ? Skirted around the Paper Mill site, along the river. Across the bridge. Noticing the watery reflections under the bridge and listening to the rhythmic clunk of traffic set against the gentle cooing of roosting pigeons. Inspecting the progress on re-cladding the futuristic flat complex, scaffolding going up on a second block whilst the first is stripped back to an insulation level.

Willow trees are fresh green and gently sway as we walk under them. A garage dead end and an emergence from a never walked path giving a fresh perspective on a familiar location.
