Out on Delivery: Tue 14 Mar

Today: Blue skied blossom, Newmarket Road: Leaves, Launceston Terrrace: Milk bottles, Harford Manor School: Delivery Montage 14/03/23

More mail and packets that we can deliver in time, having to re-jiggle as we go along, trying to go as fast as possible.

So stressed that, when I ring a customers bell quickly after knocking on the door and they answer with a cheery “oh in a hurry today ?” I feel like shouting “We are always in a f****** hurry”. Manage to laugh politely but the job is not so fun when we feel like we are constantly failing. Not so great for customers either.

The light today is amazing, I love March shadows.

Out on Delivery: Sat 11 Mar

Today: Colourful blooms and the van reflection in the black gate of 43 Mount Pleasantly

Another busy day delivery. A frosty start which quickly turned into a sunny spring morning. Having to prioritise the delivery in order to get it completed.

A super enthusiastic greeting for Kelly from Bruce on Phillipa Flowerday Way, he loves his dog treats.

Out on Delivery: Wed 8 Mar

Today: Reflection and blooms

A larger Wednesday delivery. Lots of large parcels. The weather is cold and the sleet forecast yesterday arrives today. My fingers are cracked due to the cold, I cover the cracks with plasters and have to type with my middle finger.

The walk revisions are posted in the office, we have an additional fourteen streets added to our walk. A walk we are barely managing to complete in time currently. Difficult to not feel despondent. Morale in office is low.

Out on Delivery: Tue 7 Mar

Today: Blooms, Lime tree Road: New road marking, Church Avenue: Sky, Newmarket Road.

More news about revisions to walks delivered in a meeting around the sorting frame. Going to be a resign, everyone re choosing (in order of seniority) which walk they want to do. Being low down the list I may find myself no longer on Walk 206. Contemplating this makes me see the walk with new eyes.

Plenty to deliver and deeply grateful that the weather is drier than predicted.

Out on Delivery: Mon 6 Mar

Today: A selfie at Royal Arch Court: Blossom, Mount Pleasant: Leaf, Ipswich Rd: Tree Catkins, Harford Manor Close

Cold and damp, an unwelcome return to winter temperatures with the threat of snow hanging over the week.

Changes afoot in the delivery office, all is un certainty and anxiety. No overtime being paid, so we got out onto delivery late and we returned with the walk unfinished, which never feels good.

On a personal level a parting gift from a colleague of a small radio brought me joy and I look forward to singing along to more hits from the eighties in the coming weeks.

Out on Delivery: Thu 29 Dec

Today: Sparkly wreath, 3 Kenneth Mckee plain: Bus stop, Newmarket Road: White leaf, Ipswich Rd

Still more straggling Christmas cards to deliver but lighter on parcels and packets today. Streets are quieter in this Christmas holiday time and people are home for parcels.

Out on Delivery: Fri 11 Nov

Today: Moss in brick paving cracks: Remaining leaves, Church Avenue: Leaf, Ipswich Grove.

Enjoyed an early morning electric van training. An hour spent driving through Norwich practicing using the engine to recharge the battery. Now can’t wait for the new vans to arrive (expected in March). Particularly excited by the automatic handbrake.

A perfect delivering day, not too hot, dry and nothing too busy/heavy/difficult. Lots of letters, particularly estate agents touting for business !

Out on Delivery: Thu 3 Nov

Today: Puddles…Roseacre, Newmarket Road and Church Avenue: Foggy Windscreen leaf.

Flooding and puddles defined the day. Excited by the news that we are getting Electric vans soon. Lots of mail and wet. Pleased to be finished.

Out on Delivery: Tue 18 Oct

Today: Bright morning light reflection off delivery office, Roundtree Way: Autumn colours and light, Thomas Wyatt Way: Light filled tree, Phillipa Flowerday Plain: Favourite foliage, Plantsman Close: Exquisite Autumnal leaf, Ipswich Rd.

Another beautiful autumn day, still, sunny and bright. Low sun illuminating trees and houses. Not too busy and far too lovely a day to feel stressed. An vexing moment collecting a mountain of parcels in Mount Pleasant having to rescan 23 parcels at least twice to find the rogue unscanned item.
