Walk 206: Tuesday 31st May

Today: a favourite moment enjoying the shadows of the laundry room out pipes at The Cedars: a return to Arundel Court, a parcel to deliver, I enjoy the colours and distortions thro the glass doors: as I leave Arundel court I catch a new moment between two toby jugs sat on a window cill.

A not quite raining, not quite not raining, not busy, not not busy Tuesday delivery. Enjoying the quietness of the half term traffic.

Walk 206: Monday 30th May

Today: Perfect weather for Posties. Flowers and fruit on Plantsman’s Close: More insect dots and a splendid bush on Newmarket Road.

Walk 206: Saturday 28th May

Today: Red roses peeked in a garden in Mount Pleasant: Purple blooms at The Cedars: A lavender bush in an urn outside the Annesley Hotel: A shiney knob self reflection, taken as I wait for a customer.

Day started sunny, but within 10 mins of my putting on my new Royal Mail sunhat the Sun disappeared. More mail than usual for a Saturday. An onwards and onwards day.

Walk 206: 23/05/22

Today: The gate at 44 Mount Pleasant is invitingly sunlit as I exit The Cedars: After rain yesterday, bushes seem to have grown over night, new leaf growth patterns catch my eye: As I return to my car, after my delivery, the strong summer sun has returned into the day and I am caught by the reflection of the yellow posts in my windows and by the shadow of my door handle on the white lines.

A welcomely uneventful day’s delivering, satisfactorily average weather, parcel volumes and mood. A perfect backdrop to catching moments of beauty.

Walk 206: Monday 23rd May

Today I notice all the unexpected growth, all the weed filled nooks and cracks. I am heartened by the resilience of nature and how the smallest crack offers enough potential for nature to try to thrive.

An aggravating day, damp and sweaty. Lots of morning traffic. A broken handbrake cable, the worry of driving without a handbrake and the extra time to arrange a different van to be brought out and to transfer all the mail over. New managers in the office and the possibility if going on strike hanging in the workplace air.

Walk 206: Friday 20th May

This has caught my eye all week. A colourful haphazard, spontaneous over spilling of plants on the drive of West View. An array of textures and delicate colours.

A slightly unremarkable day’s delivering.

Walk 206: Thursday 19th May

Today: A special delivery of Honey Bee’s. A humming, sweet smelling parcel that was curiously warm to the touch: With insects on my mind I caught a picture of one of the caterpillars devastating box hedges around the area: In the cooler, overcast weather my eye is caught by the edge of green on the letterbox of 8 Church Avenue: Gardens are starting to smell sweet and this rose caught my nostrils as I left a house on Newmarket Road.

A moist, warm, scent and insect filled day delivering.

Walk 206: 18th May

A busy Wednesday delivery: a hot sunny day. Shadows catching my eye today as I walk.

Shadow of clip on my parcel delivery notebook; door shadow at the flats on benjamin gooch way; foliage shadow, christchurch road; geometric handrail shadows, plantsmans close.

Walk 206: 17th May

A warm Tuesday; mail mostly consisted of Go outdoors catalogues; an extraordinarily structured flower, Newmarket Road.

Worked with a different colleague.
