Out on Delivery: Wed 15 Nov

Today: Favourite Newmarket Rd tree looking even more splendid: Another leaf visitor on our windscreen: Mushrooms growing in fencing panel, Plantsman Close. Photo collage, Wessex Street flats.

A beautiful start to the morning, autumnal coloured trees looking amazing in low autumn light. Towards the end of the delivery cloud had moved in and the chilliness of the day started to bite.

We manage to get all delivered, still feeling good to complete the walk.

Out on Delivery: Sat 11 Nov

Today: Autumnal tree, 98 Newmarket Road: Colourful foliage, Norfolk Terrace: silver birch trees on corner by 85 Suffolk Square: Photo collage, suffolk square.

A last time delivering to Suffolk Square and surrounding areas. Having worked really hard the last couple of days to be in a position to clear both walks we arrive to the news there is no extra person and more packets and mail than on any other day this week. With the shorter finish time we have no chance of getting anywhere close.

We deliver to all the areas we didn’t get to yesterday and then just do the 100+ packets. All the mail is out with us and we try not to worry about the work of getting it back into the frame on Monday.

A beautiful day, plenty of sun and a riot of autumnal colours.

Out on Delivery: Tue 7 Nov

Today: pink blooms (Cornish Lily) currently to be seen throughout the walk, these ones in Trory road: Autumnal colours, Norfolk Street: Photo collage, Suffolk Square.

Another chilly but sunny day. I’ve wrapped up warm, since my head is thick with cold. Delivery passes quickly, plenty to deliver. Autumn colours are at their peak. Beautiful.

Out on Delivery: Mon 6 Nov

Today: Beaded curtain and shadow, Walpole gardens: Gold flecked leaves, Ipswich Rd: Crying lady, Albert terrace.

Calmer, cooler and more settled weather has come in. I needed gloves for the cycle and a hat through the delivery. Trees are translucently glowing yellow and all looks beautiful. Very much needed as we try to catch up on the backlog of letters that have built up. Heavy bags with, in some cases, four days worth of mail. All made more challenging by the heavy cold I have caught off the colleague I worked with last week !!

Out on Delivery: Tue 31 Oct

Today: Halloween delivery, I planned to photograph all the jack o lanterns but didn’t see as many as I expected. The first one I clocked has “Dylan’s pumpkin please don’t steal” written on in Biro.

Spiders web’s a plenty to give spooky vibes to the day…

Out on Delivery: Mon 30 Oct

Today: A return to the walk after a week’s holiday. A backlog of mail due to staffing issues last week. Three of us tackle the build up, creating different working patterns.

A gentleness to the day, but no regrets at having return into long trousers. Leaves are starting to carpet the roads but still beautiful blooms to be seen through the walk.

Wearing in some new walking shoes. They made me feel very tall and sturdy but my leg muscles are this evening registering complaint.

Out on Delivery: Sat 21 Oct

Today: Just so happy it wasn’t wet like yesterday ! Enjoyed the walk, all the streets were strewn with fallen leaves and all was still damp (including my van seat).

Enjoying the autumn colours.

Out on Delivery: Wed 18 Oct

A gentle day, perfect for delivering mail. People in chatty friendly moods. Both things helped smooth through a large Wednesday delivery. All looking more autumnal.

I enjoy spotting the work of local graffiti artist, knapple around the delivery. She paints pineapples around the city and people commission her to decorate their bins and walls. Delighted yesterday to find this whole wall panel in Suffolk Square.

Out on Delivery: Mon 16 Oct

Today: A shock of a cold day. Hands numb, jacket, gilet, vest stay on all delivery. Jumped from high summer to winter over the weekend. Diffuse sunlight behind these heart shaped leaves in Christchurch make this bush sing today. A ghost like bush, Ipswich Grove, caught my eye with its eerie glow.

The weekends strong wind and heavy rain has brought down many just turned leaves, my opportunity to capture their beauty closed for another year.
