Out on Delivery: Tue 30 July

Hottest day of the year so far, the sun is strong and temperatures high at the outset of the delivery.

Working in a team of three, training up Peaches on the walk who will be standing in a semi permanent working partner.

Trying to clear a backlog of mail that had accumulated so bags are heavy.

A squish in the van and have a great moment where we all pilled out of the van to deliver parcels in Earlham road and a passer exclaimed in suprise “wow, how many more of you in that van”

Out on Delivery: Tue/Wed 24/25 Jul

Summery hot weather, working with new colleagues.

I hope I have remembered to remind them of all the tricky addresses as I send them off on their unseen loops. Always forgetting a few.

Gardens are looking full and splendid around the whole delivery. A few addresses are increasingly hard to access with overgrown bushes and pathways. Thorns, brambles and stinging nettles lurk in the foliage.

Out on Delivery: Fri 19 July

Hot hot hot. Sunny. Hot. Needed to buy cold drinks from a deliciously air conditioned local store mid way through.

Loved these two ripe red strawberries sat on a humble windowsill in Mill Hill Road.

Out on Delivery: Wed 17 July

After finishing yesterday’s delivery cold and wet today started with full sunshine. The sun hat was back out the bag.

We had double mail to delivery, as I had covered both walks on Tuesday, so heavy bags and plenty of walking.

These poppies on Stafford Street stood out, I love their scruff happenstance energy and their delicate vulnerability.

Out on Delivery: Mon 15 July

A sunny lighter delivery day so a little space inside it to enjoy noticing all the summer blooms popping with colour. Fairly warm but a fresh gentle breeze keeps the day perfect for delivering mail.

No selfie in lift as I meet an ex postie, Tom, now DPD delivery guy in the lift and have a quick chat.

Out on Delivery: Sat 13 July

After heavy rain over night the early morning street are strewn with slugs and snails. Slugmageddon up Stafford st, with many poor creatures squashed and smashed. Drama increased by a series of red dots sprayed on the pavement by each gateway.

Opening a door in West Pottergate I am caught by the golden glow of a slug on the glass.

A good morning, we are only 15 mins short of completing both walks.
