Out on Delivery: Mon 4 Sep

Today: Sunny sunny sunny. In the low morning light all the new spiders web glisten, I managed to catch one image, but not the full wonder of the five webs all set in different planes, glistening.

Early start times as we head into “peak”, the busier time of the year for royal mail. Kelly has a sore hip and it is difficult watching her soldier through the delivery.

Out on Delivery: Sat 26Aug

Today: Another fresher day with crisp bright autumn tinted sunlight. Flowers really singing, really enjoyed by these delicate pink flowers/vine that is growing on the fence to the Jenny Lind park.

A lighter Saturday, so a more relaxed walk, with slivers of opportunity to enjoy the job, the chance to chat a little to customers and to notice the surroundings. Almost perfect delivering weather, if only we didn’t deliver to any blocks of flats, which warm us up with the exertion and warm staircase spaces.

Out on Delivery: Thu 17 Aug

Today: A pickle of a day, not quite on it enough and working with a newer colleague who is not familiar with the walk and needed more support than I gave. Three trays of mail, a council letter to most addresses, plenty of parcels and specials and various collections.

Felt like we spent the day driving back and forth, made more complicated by the closure of the junction in the middle of my walk. Traffic carnage.

Overcast and not rainy but thankfully cool enough to not get too hot on bothered .

I love delivering to a chip shop, this magazine, chippy chatter and natter brought a smile to my face.

Out on Delivery: Sat 19 Aug

Today: Glorious clean sharp sunlight and a fresh breeze keeping delivering comfortable. Pleased to have my regular colleague Kelly back. We fly through the delivery.

Very sad to learn that John Last OBE has died. He was Vice Chancellor at NUA when I studied there, a man full of vigour and brim. He lived on our delivery and it has been alarming watching him deteriorate into ill health. Reminded again of the intimate nature of being a postie, the joys and sadnesses of watching life.

Out on Delivery: Wed 9 Aug

Today: Light ripples, Arundel Court: Mrs Willmott’s ghost, Church Avenue: Van light casing shadow, Union street: Delivery montage.

A most exquisitely perfect English summers day, sunny and light filled with a fresh breeze to counter the sun’s rays. All smells fresh and recent rain means verdant lawn and sumptuous blooms abound. A joy to be out and about.

Out on Delivery: Sat 5 Aug

Today: A wet morning delivering, all was green and glistening. A few overly soggy letters delivered and one naughty parcel slipped from my hands and landed itself squarely in a puddle. Much apologising to the customer.

Out on Delivery: Wed 2 Aug

A morning sorting listening to rain drum on the roof. Miraculous it stopped as we arrive on delivery and the sun spent as much time out as behind the clouds.

The rain had left beautiful puddles on Suffolk Square walkways, which I have used in today collage.

Out on Delivery: Mon 31 Jul

Today: An ominously overcast start but we made it through dry. A lighter day and we were only one road short of completing the whole of the new larger delivery. I walked 17km despite only having every other call. Plenty of berries starting to turn red and leaves starting to colour.
